At Bill Quay Primary School, we recognise the great importance of being able to read fluently and with understanding - these skills are fundamental to being able to live a full and rewarding life, as well as enabling pupils to access all areas of the curriculum. The document below explains fully how we teach and promote a love of reading throughout the school, and details our use of Read, Write, Inc. for the teaching of Phonics in Key Stage One and the use of the RWI Book Bag books for their reading, before progressing onto The Oxford Reading Tree and Accelerated Reader for our reading schemes. Year 6 pupils also use Reading Plus to develop their reading further.
